Privacy Policy
The internet has largely become a tool of surveillance. I, Simon Dalzell, the founder of Ivy Audio, personally disagree very strongly with this trend, and endeavor to run Ivy Audio in a manner that respects visitor and customer privacy to the utmost.
To this end, Ivy Audio stores the minimum viable amount of data. What little information is collected is used exclusively in connection with normal business operations:
- To deliver serial numbers to customers
- To deliver marketing emails to those who choose to receive them
This information is irreversibly anonymized where possible, and is never shared with any third party.
1. Information generated when you browse ivyaudio.com
Ivy Audio does not collect personally identifiable information and creates no cookies, tracking or otherwise. This means the site does not need an annoying cookie banner.
Additionally, this website is built using plain html and css, and respects visitors by eschewing JavaScript wherever possible. JavaScript is fundamentally a threat to privacy, as it normalizes the practice of allowing any website to execute arbitrary code on your machine.
Two features on this website are impossible to implement without JavaScript: changing currency automatically when using the dropdown in the navigation menu, and processing payments via Stripe. With JavaScript disabled, the currency choice must be validated with the "submit" button that appears. Although there is no JS-free workaround for Stripe, the cryptocurrency checkout remains entirely functional.
2. Information Ivy Audio collects when you make a purchase
- email - Your email is used to deliver your serial numbers, and is stored to maintain a record of your purchase.
- Country - In order to remain VAT compliant, the country you are located in when you purchase a product must be taken into account.
3. Information sent to stripe when you make a purchase
In order to process payment, your card number, expiration date and CSV are sent directly to Stripe. Ivy Audio never processes or stores your payment information. Stripe's privacy policy can be found here.
The relevant section can be found under "1.2 End Customers"
4. Information you provide when you sign up for emails
If you provide double opt-in consent to receive promotional emails, Ivy Audio will send you occasional messages about upcoming products. Your email will be used exclusively for this purpose, and will never be shared with a third party.
Additionally, while many companies use a third party mail service like mailchimp to deliver emails, such services necessarily involve handing over a complete list of subscriber details to the third party. Ivy Audio subscriptions are run from a self hosted listmonk instance, running on my own hardware, which ensures that no third party has access to your name, email address, or subscription status.
5. Your right to erasure
If you have made a purchase on ivyaudio.com and would like the record of this purchase to be deleted, please send a request to dpo@ivyaudio.com from the email address associated with your purchase. Keep in mind that this will make it impossible to provide customer support related to the purchase.
You are welcome to write to dpo@ivyaudio.com with other requests, questions or concerns, but the only personally identifiable information Ivy Audio stores is a record of purchases and associated emails, so there are no other actionable privacy related requests to be made.
